Why Should We Live Authentically?

If you are on your spiritual and/or healing journey, most likely both they truely go hand in hand, you may have come across the idea that disease is really, DIS-EASE. Another thought is that depression can be spoken as deep-rest. Why are these important?
If you are living your life for others, or living in a way that you are trying to avoid judgment, or the displeasure of others, you will eventually find your body in a state of disease or depression.
Although we may be good actors and convince ourselves that trying to be the best at everything, all the time, and strive for perfection we are doing the right thing. If you dig deeper it is because we are avoiding a very real fear. This fear typically comes from childhood and is created by a trauma response that our brain deems necessary in order to avoid finding ourselves in this situation again. The fear could be fear of lack, or fear of unworthiness to name a couple. We then augment our behavior in certain groups of people or places in order to avoid experiencing those fears. For example if you were raised with the belief that you HAVE to work very hard 40+ hours a week in order to make enough money to make ends meet or be “successful” then you will live that reality in adulthood. Your fear could be that of lack or fear that “if I do not work very hard for 40+ hours I will not be happy, or have enough money.” Then you will behave in ways that you do anything to avoid the fear state. Therefore you are without knowing creating a reality you may not even believe in. It’s just an idea you’re living because you don’t know differently. Unless you begin healing inward and choose to let go of thought patterns that no longer serve you.
The way that this may cause disease, is that there is a part of you that disagrees with this way of living. A part of your soul that craves doing what you truly love, or what you feel called to pursue in life. You could be doing your dream job and still feel unwell. This is because we do live in a society that revolves around productivity and the desire for material things. We then feel a need for more money, for more things, fighting to pacify the internal fear we have and that can cause stress internally. If you are constantly showing up in circumstances that force you to play a role, or go against YOUR morals and beliefs, your body stores this stress, and trauma. Your body does not want to be an "actor" in this way. So, it will end up in a state of depression needing deep rest from this role you are playing.
This "role self" can show up in unhealthy family dynamics if you are playing a role to “keep the peace”. If you find that you cannot be yourself when you go back home because there will be judgment or fighting you will find yourself in this state. If you are like me and work your dream job as a nurse in an OR but never get validation that you need or work against your own moral judgment you live in a state of constant cortisol dumping and then comes disease.
It is so important to be vigilant with curiosity for your inside world. Journaling and working on our shadow self, asking questions about why I do that, or where is this thought process coming from is a great way to begin this journey.
Living authentically won't only feel amazing and encourage relentless and beautiful self love but it creates the space to heal internally as well. When we live authentically we live in our alignment and this creates alignment in our body. Levels of cortisol decrease, chakras align, our body feels safe enough to heal.
Humans are naturally healthy and happy, when we give ourselves permission to return to that state our bodies can take over and do the rest!
